OCTH 519 Conceptual Foundations of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science

This course focuses on the meaning and purpose of occupation in everyday functioning. Occupations are discussed in terms of choice, roles and lifestyles embedded within developmental life stages. The history, philosophy, framework, theories of practice and frames of reference are also considered. Political and economic factors influencing the development of occupational therapy and occupational science are also explored. Integrated community experiences center around influences on domains of occupational therapy and occupational performance within the context of the occupational therapy domain and process.
